So after chatting with a delightly MR2 seller from Edmonton, I've found my ride. Went down and picked it up for a princely sum, and it sat in my Condo parking spot for two weeks until I could pick it up properly for a long 4.5h trip home.

Things I noticed: Shaky first gear, rusty lip, VERY poor paint, LOUD exhaust.
